'Betty the Seahorse' is a personal illustration project that allowed me to play with my love of seahorses and dress up. While the project was for sheer enjoyment, I decided to focus upon a clean grid structure and a restricted color pallete.

The 24'x 36' illustration features Betty in 48 different personas, ranging from Bavarian Betty to Gene Simmons Betty, which all evolves into the brain devouring Zombie Betty. Throughout the project I found myself faced with difficult crititical thinking questions such as 'how to make various pop culture figures look like seahorses?'

*Just so my strange need to illustrate 48 seahorses doesn't get me in any sort of unneeded trouble, I am well aware that Frankenstein, Frankenfurter, Hannibal Lecter, Darth Vader, Gene Simmons, Playboy, Sherlock Holmes, David Bowie, Madonna, Devo, Andy Warhol, Salvador Dali, Zorro, and Picasso are none of my original ideas, nor do I take credit for them. I just like seahorses and pop culture.
